[Palinastrophy] AP’s still got it

The Associated Press is once again demonstrating that they’ve got a sense of humor. In a story today regarding the continuing ethics investigation of Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin, they began with:
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Trying to head off a potentially embarrassing state ethics report on GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, campaign officials released their own report Thursday that clears her of any wrongdoing.
I mean really? That was supposed to work? Sarah Palin says she didn’t do anything wrong so everyone is just supposed to shut up about it? Seriously WTF. I don’t understand what it is about the GOP that makes it think that it can just invent their own reality. This entire ordeal really captures what I can’t stand about the Republican party. They spent $40 million (and remember this is the party of small government) to find out if Bill got head in the oval office, and screamed bloody murder about how it was necessary to preserve the integrity and dignity of the office. When W got into office, all the sudden no one was supposed to care about ethics. Investigate Bush’s illegal orders to install wiretaps with no judicial oversight? How dare you question what the government needs to do to protect us from terrorists! Ask that the White House comply with oversight regulations regarding phone logs and e-mails? Well clearly you’re just some partisan hack who hates America. Think that perhaps the highest levels of the administration should not be outing CIA agents as part of revenge plots? Support the troops, Commie.
I’m just glad that the McCain camp is investigating this Obama/Ayers matter. I have no doubt that McCain did thorough background checks on everyone in all 8 of his neighborhoods and made sure that he was in total philosophical agreement with everyone that he ever served on boards with, and that his running mate carefully vetted all of her close associates. We can only expect the same level of diligence from Obama.
