[SYSK] Sin tax error: Why it may cost you more to drink in Indiana
April 2nd, 2009 by Dave StudinskiA statewide tax increase on booze (and beer) is in the works here in Indiana. The measure would also raise hotel, food and drink costs in Marion County. A state Senate committee OK’d the bill 10-2 today.
The cost to the common drinker, courtesy Fort Wayne’s Journal Gazette:
Alcohol taxes are figured per gallon and essentially would double for beer, wine and liquor. This would mean an additional 26 cents per case of beer; 9 cents per bottle of wine and 53 cents per fifth of liquor.
