[SYSK] Leno’s farewell

There was much hype around the debut of “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” last night, enough to drown the departure of another late night legend.  Albeit a few days late, if you haven’t watched Jay Leno’s final “Tonight Show” you’re missing a monumental moment in American television history. Sure, he’s not leaving leaving, but his stepping down from “The Tonight Show” signals a change in culture – however subtle it may seem right now.

Leno signed off Friday after 17 years in Johnny Carson’s old chair, metaphorically speaking. The old one certainly wouldn’t meet modern HD standards. As Leno points out, his tenure is the span of four American presidents, two wars, Sept. 11 and a shit-ton of natural disasters. On the lighter side, it’s also enough time to raise a girl.
