Take a look at the latest Glenn Beck non-apology. In the video, which is from Wednesday’s Glenn Beck Live, he addresses the sponsorship woes as part of the “War on Glenn Beck”. Gawker, among others, seems to think this is Beck’s swan song and that he will soon be leaving Fox News due to the loss of sponsorship dollars. Sadly, I doubt that is the case. Here’s an sample of his ravings (see the whole thing here):

They can take my job and they can take my wealth but that’s okay….even if the powers to be, right now, succeed in making me poor, drum me out, and I’m just a worthless loser… which I’m just about that much above that now… I will only be stronger for it.

When watching the video, I was struck with a thought. You know, to some one crazy enough, this might be inspiring. This might motivate those people who, for whatever the reason, believe what Glenn Beck is selling. That despite the knowledge that Glenn Beck is insane, some people might look for him to lead them. We, of course, know this is true. We have seen the evidence. We don’t understand it because we are looking–no, scratch that, we are hearing Glenn Beck in a totally different way than his fans.

When Glenn Beck supporters watch this video, this is what they hear:

They don’t hear a madman, a raving nutjob that is a modern-day real life Howard Beale. No, they hear him as a noble leader being persecuted for what he believes in–what they believe in. And guess what, there’s a lot of crazy in America.

When I watch that video, I hear this:

It’s all a matter of soundtrack, I suppose.

As Beck, Bill-O and the Fox and Friends morning crew, whom I believe are named B.J. and Hummer getting massive ratings for some reason, Shepard Smith has remained the sole voice of reason on the otherwise depressing and off the deep end network. He has spoke out against Glenn Beck’s Cryathon and the idea that Fox’s talking heads try to put out about a media bias. Now, Shepard Smith gets a lot of e-mail, and some of it angers him. Following the coverage of the shooting at the Holocaust Museum he mused on why everyone seemed to be turning to their gun lately. Take a watch after the jump

Glenn Beck is preparing a new fear-mongering-based comedy tour this summer, including a simulcast in our nations movies theaters. However, the promo shows that Glenn Beck may not be that funny, but he may not be quite as bat-shit crazy as we are led to believe…

First off, give whoever thought of using the word “hysterical” in that promo a raise. It is the perfect transition from Glenn Beck’s antics on Fox News to a good comedy show. And if Beck is half as funny as he is on stage as he is in front of the camera, that his tour could be an unintentional success.

Back to the promo, while I think the Glenn Beck crying is only humorous for somewhere around 40 seconds (maybe a minute if he had added some ramblings about how he “loves his country and fears for it”), the ad not only features him crying, but also self-labels him as a fear monger. So, is Glenn Beck just manipulating the strings of the far right to make the almighty dollar?

Glenn Beck is a rating hit for Fox News despite, it seems, having dove head first into a pool of crazy while wearing a swimming cap that prevented any knowledge from entering his brain. This time he isn’t crying for the cameras, or mongering fear… he’s at the Alamo on tax day for a tea party. This is a few days old, but I’m exactly going out of my way to watch Glenn Beck. Here, verbatim, is how he opened the show:

“The media, the media understands that the fathers dressed up as Indians and threw some tea into the Boston harbor, but for the life of them can not understand why these people are in their streets all across America today. I will explain. Plus Ted Nugent, Penn Gillette, and people actually like you coming together to saying ‘Enough is Enough’. They take a stand and together they will draw a line in the sand. Here. Where it was originally drawn. Live at the Alamo.”

First off, the only founding father that has a possible involvement in the tea party was Samuel Adams. Why was Sam Adams involved? Maybe Teatime got in the way of Happy Hour. Regardless, very few were actually dressed as Indians. The dressing up as Indians was a myth inspired by the famous lithograph “The Destruction of Tea at Boston Harbor“. Of course, the Alamo doesn’t have anything to do with the tea party, but I think that’s a given, seeing as how it is in Texas. And, while, yes there was a line in the sand drawn at the Alamo, it was meant more as a metaphor for accepting certain death over surrender. Which, actually, might fit what the Republican Party is doing now.

Don’t believe me? You can watch the video below. The best part is the Ted Nugent guitar solo for the introduction.

Just when you thought the teabagging humor couldn’t get any more silly… or hilarious… FoxNews released a pseudoarticle lambasting MSNBC and CNN for mocking teabaggers.

For thousands of Americans, Tax Day was a moment to protest what they see as bloated budgets and a pile of debt being passed on to their children.

For CNN, MSNBC and other media outlets, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to use the word “teabagging” in a sentence.

Teabagging, for those who don’t live in a frat house, refers to a sexual act involving part of the male genitalia and a second person’s face or mouth.

The article then goes on to explain the veiled references to teabagging (the sexual act, not the bizarre an unenlightened form of protest) from Rachel Maddow, David Shuster and Anderson Cooper.

“It’s hard to talk when you’re teabagging,” Cooper explained. Gergen laughed, but Cooper kept a straight face.

Later, the article directly addresses Maddow and Cox’s back and fourth (which you can see here and here) in the most absurd way possible:

If anyone thinks the orally charged remarks on mainstream cable were just a coincidence, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow’s segments over the past week with guest, Air America’s Ana Marie Cox, would dissolve all doubt. Their on-air gymnastics, dancing around the double entendre of the week, looked like live-action Beavis and Butthead.

FoxNews, of course, ignoring their own live-action Beavis and Butthead in the form of Glenn Beck and whomever they have on that agrees with Glenn Beck.

The bottom line is this: FoxNews doesn’t think teabagging is a bad name, but CNN and MSNBC should be more mature than to make crude, sixth grade jokes about a sexual act involving putting the testicles and scrotum on to someones face.

And yet, doesn’t some of the blame fall on the teabaggers themselves… those who claim to be oppressed and overtaxed when, in fact, the only people who’s taxes were hightened were the top 5% of wageearners? The proverbial teabaggers, not the teabagees that they would claim to be?

I think teabagging humor has reached it’s apex. I honeslty think that teabagging can not get any funnier, and I haven’t even seen the Daily Show and Colbert Report’s takes on it yet.

Actually, you know, if Dick Lugar starts talking about teabagging, then it could be just a little funnier.

I also wonder what sort of traffic “Dick Lugar teabagging” is going to drive to the site. For now, he’s Anderson Cooper talking from personal experence, I assume:

Shepard Smith had the unfortunate duty of promoting that program, and proceeded to rant and rave about he “doesn’t get it” while mocking Beck’s trademark zoom in and contort your head move. He also mocked Beck’s crying, which is really saying something when a gay man is calling you a crybaby. Of course, there’s video:

And Condi is a decaf gal, according to this Fox News segment that aired in late November. The segment, YouTube-viewable below the fold, profiles the job of the current Air Force One pilot.

While I hate to give Fox News props for anything, the segment is an insightful look at (and into) the aircraft. The pilot gives an enlightening account into circumstances on and around the plane on 9/11, including his desire to have Air Force One’s own cockpit guarded for a period of time.
