As rumors fly around about what is happening with NBC’s late night lineup, one thing is for certain: It’s giving everyone something to joke about. Tiger Woods must be breathing a sigh of relief right now, as he can finally disappear from the limelight for a little bit and get his world back in order.

Conan O’Brien continued his gag of having his writers come up with a list of options for him (a continuation of another bit where he listed some of the rumors). The include several good jabs, including one at the end that seems sarcastic only in Conan actually doing it. Take a look.

Meanwhile, Conan’s old rival, Craig Ferguson, responded with a simple ‘who gives a f—?’, and mocked the fact that himself and Letterman were now the stable ones.

But one person who really enjoyed himself was David Letterman. A good chunk of his jokes, including his Top Ten, delved into the subject. Including one great sight gag I won’t describe, you have to see it on video (which I will post when it comes online). And he closed it all off wondering if he, in fact, still had a show.

UPDATE: And now Colbert weighs in, with the help of Morgan Freeman.

As the world watched Conan last night, David Letterman continued what he had been doing for the 17 years while Leno was on: Being funnier than Jay Leno. It will be interesting to see what people will do, with Conan not being the safe, Jay Leno vanilla of a comedian, if older audiences will turn back to weird they remember in David Letterman.

Letterman, meanwhile, took the oppertunity to mock himself for not getting the tonight show. Take a look.

There was much hype around the debut of “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” last night, enough to drown the departure of another late night legend. Albeit a few days late, if you haven’t watched Jay Leno’s final “Tonight Show” you’re missing a monumental moment in American television history. Sure, he’s not leaving leaving, but his stepping down from “The Tonight Show” signals a change in culture – however subtle it may seem right now.

Leno signed off Friday after 17 years in Johnny Carson’s old chair, metaphorically speaking. The old one certainly wouldn’t meet modern HD standards. As Leno points out, his tenure is the span of four American presidents, two wars, Sept. 11 and a shit-ton of natural disasters. On the lighter side, it’s also enough time to raise a girl.

His touching final segment:

Which late night television talk show host mocked McCain’s performance in the debate last night? Well, there’s That One. Oh and That One of course. And That One, That One and That One.

So, here, via the Indianapolis Star, are what each Late Night show host said:

David Letterman: “Welcome to the program. My name is David Letterman, or as the staff calls me, ‘That one.’”

Conan O’Brien: “During last night’s debate, John McCain sparked a controversy when he referred to Barack Obama as ’that one. Afterwards, McCain said: ’What — like I’m supposed to remember EVERYONE’S name now?”’

Jon Stewart:to Michelle Obama
“So you’re a lot like Sarah Palin.”

Stephen Colbert: “The only thing missing was Karl Rove dumping Gatorade over John McCain’s head at the end.”

Jay Leno: “It was broadcast live from Nashville. I don’t want to say the debate was boring, but I never thought a political event in Tennessee could be that dull without the help of Al Gore.”

Craig Ferguson: ““’Which one of these senators tapped your foot in the bathroom?’ ’That one.’ That would be appropriate.”

So which one of these is the best? Vote below.
