Sarah Palin? Poking fun at herself?

You betcha!

Palin, at a rally in Clearwater, Florida this morning, spoke about her “less than successful interview” with CBS’ Katie Couric. See some crowd-shot footage of the speech here, about one minute in.

“I was just trying to keep Tina Fey in business, just giving her more information,” she said. “Job security for S.N.L. characters.”

She might not be stopping there, a Chicago Sun-Times columnist says:

Some key McCain staffers are content with Palin joking about the “SNL” routines on the campaign trail — as when she scribbled “I’m not Tina Fey” on a supporter’s cell phone and said she’d dressed as Fey on Halloween. But others — including the governor herself — think a return punch on the NBC airwaves is what’s needed.

I’m hearing some sort of Palin tweak of Fey’s American Express commercials is in the works.

Bets on her effing that up, too?

[via Dlisted.com, thanks @peconge for the find.]

Below the fold, a look at what debate moderator Gwen Ifil thought about the SNL skit, as told to Meet the Press on Sunday.

Sarah Palin digs herself deeper in the latest release of clips from her interviews with Katie Couric.

Palin: Well, it matters though, Katie, when the media gets it wrong. It frustrates Americans who are just trying to get the facts and … be able to make up their mind on, about a person’s values. So it does matter.

But what you’re talking about, I think, value here, what my position is on homosexuality and you can pray it away, because I think that was the title that was listed on that bulletin. And you know, I don’t know what prayers are worthy of being prayed. I don’t know what’s prayers are going to be asked and answered. But as for homosexuality, I am not going to judge Americans and the decisions that they make in their adult personal relationships. I have one of my absolute best friends for the last 30 years happens to be gay, and I love her dearly. And she is not my “gay friend,” she is one of my best friends, who happens to have made a choice that isn’t a choice that I have made. But I am not going to judge people.

Decisions? Decisions? No, Mrs. Palin: A decision would be your daughter’s boyfriend’s choice to not wear a rubber. Sexuality? Not so much.

Gawker has some added video highlights of the continuing Palinastrophy.

And that does it – this woman just landed herself her own category.

[Props to a happily employed friend for letting me use the punchline they cannot.]

4. “I’m thirsty” – Ben Linus (Michael Emerson) on LOST. In this tense clip Locke (Terry O’Quinn) offers his former ally and current prisoner Sayid (Naveen Andrews) some iced tea. Ben speaks up, but is ignored.

3. “The hammer is my penis.” – Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion) in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Neil Patrick Harris plays Dr. Horrible, arch-enemy of Captain Hammer who happens to be in a relationship with the girl Dr. Horrible is madly in love with, Penny.
